Save Bellingen Hospital


Values / Aims / Mandate

 The Issue:
Services at Bellingen River District Hospital are under direct threat of reduction or closure due to management recommendations made by the North Coast Area Health Service in the wake of the Garling Report dated 28th Nov 2008, for the NSW State Government.

These services include the Emergency Department, Acute Care beds, Maternity and Surgical services.

Mandate for Bellinger Health Action Group - Adopted at the BHAG Community Meeting, 11 Nov 2009

“We the community of Bellingen have a strong commitment to the delivery of safe high quality local hospital services.

We recognise our place as active participants in a network of hospital service provision across the North Coast and the right of each community in our region to the delivery of safe, high quality, local hospital services.

We call on the state and federal governments to engage in proper, open, transparent consultation including full consideration of funding, organisation  and long-term sustainability.”
